LAOAG CITY – Confirmed by P/C/Inps. Roldan Suitos, chief of police in the town of Sarrat, one of their patrol cars indeed crashed the night of January 27.

According to Suitos, PO1 William Gaoiran together with PO3 Boniemar Tomas should be going to the checkpoint post in Brgy. 5, San Vicente, when they crashed in Brgy. 22, San Cristobal.

He said that the car fell into a one-meter-deep canal after they avoided one vehicle which was overtaking another but a dog surprisingly crossed the road.

Windshield was shattered, together with the headlights and front facets of the patrol car; while Tomas was wounded and was sent to the hospital. Gaioraan was okay after the accident.

Suitos added that there was no sign they were avoiding a vehicle which didn’t want to pull over, and no one also admitted who owns the dog straying in the middle of the road, fearing of the police pursuit to file a case.
