LAS PIÑAS – Some 10 couples tied the knot during a mass wedding at the Las Piñas City Hall.
Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar officiated the wedding of these couples who came from different villages of the city.
Aguilar advised the newlyweds to nurture their marriage by being committed and faithful to one another.
Marriage certificates are distributed right after the wedding ceremony.
Since 2016, the local government has been holding mass wedding on Tuesdays, twice a month at the city hall for couples who struggle to get married due to financial constraints.
“Ang iba matagal na nagsasama pero walang capacity to have a civil wedding or a church wedding. Ang goal ng mass wedding is to help couples get married for free,” said Jimmy Castillano, head of the city government’s Media Affairs and Public Information Office, as quoted by Manila Bulletin.
Couples who wish to get married in the future can visit the Office of the Civil Registry located at Las Piñas City Hall Compound, Alabang-Zapote Road, Barangay Pamplona Tres and bring the following documents: Birth Certificate, Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR) and Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage (if one is marrying a foreigner).
In order to obtain the marriage license, couples are required to attend the family planning seminar being conducted by the City Social Work and Development Office and the City Health Office.
The marriage license must be submitted to the Mayor’s Office once obtained. Couples can then choose their wedding date.
