ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Two alleged big-time drug personalities were arrested while some PHP687,200 worth of illegal drugs and firearms were seized in two separate buy-bust operations here, a police official said Thursday.
Chief Insp. Elmer Solon, Police Station 11 chief, identified the arrested suspects as Kuddus Cadir, 30, a truck-man; and Jully Jupuri, 36.
Solon said Cadir was arrested after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP200 to an undercover policeman in Kasalamatan Drive, Barangay Kasanyangan at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He said recovered from Cadir’s possession were some PHP515,200 worth of suspected shabu packed in two plastic sachets, PHP200 in marked money, a caliber .22 pistol and a KG-9 pistol with ammunition, and a silencer.
Jupuri was arrested in a separate buy-bust operation in Peralta Drive, Barangay Mampang at about 8:10 p.m. on the same day, police said. Seized from his possession were some PHP172,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in two sachets, and PHP200 marked money.
Solon said the two were detained while charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against them.
He said Cadir will also be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
The two were arrested by joint police and military operatives in coordination with the regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. (PNA)
