2 NABBED FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN ANTIPOLO
MANILA -- National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives arrested two men for alleged human trafficking in Antipolo City.
In a statement Friday, NBI Director Dante Gierran said suspects Christian Mabbayad, alias Jaika, and John Romel Bueno were arrested while 11 victims, including two minors, were rescued by the bureau's Rizal District Office last March 6.
The two were arrested following a tip-off by the rescue group, Destiny Rescue Phils., regarding their alleged human trafficking activities, particularly the sexual exploitation of minors, in Pasig, Makati, Quezon City, and Rizal.
An entrapment operation was organized by the NBI and social workers against the two during a swimming party at 3B Resort in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, where the victims were offered PHP3,000 each.
After their arrest, the two suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor's Office of Antipolo for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking In Persons Act of 2012, and RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
