COTABATO CITY – Police and military authorities arrested two officials of President Roxas town in North Cotabato for possession of illegal drugs Wednesday.
Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, police regional director for Region 12, identified the arrested suspects during the 5 a.m. operation as Robert Herbilla, municipal secretary and Amelito Daquipil, municipal administrative assistant.
Rasco said personnel of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit backed by soldiers from the Army's 901st Infantry Brigade were armed with six search warrants against the suspects issued by Judge Alandrex Betoya of Regional Trial Court Branch 16 for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives).
“We have been closely monitoring their activities and after it was confirmed they were into it, we sought for search warrants,” Rasco said.
Police seized seven sachets of suspected shabu from Herbilla and eight sachets from Daquipil.
The suspects are now detained at President Roxas municipal police station lock-up cell while charges are being readied against them.
