ZAMBOANGA CITY — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police drug enforcement unit operatives have arrested two women and seized some PHP3.4 million worth of suspected shabu in an anti-drug operation few meters away from the city hall, an official announced Wednesday.

Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the arrested suspects as Sarah Sawajaan alias Nurshan Limpahong, 36, and Fatima Amerul alias Medilna Amirul, 40.

Licup said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday in front of a fast food chain along Zaragoza St., Barangay Zone 4, this city.

Licup said confiscated from the suspects were some 500 grams of suspected shabu packed in 10 large-size plastic sachets and PHP700,000 boodle money with one original PHP1,000 bill.

He said the suspects and confiscated illegal drugs were placed under the custody of the PDEA regional office.

He said that cases for violation of Section 5, in relation to Section 26, Article II of Republic Act 9165 will be filed in court against the suspects.

He also lauded the operating units of PDEA regional office and Zamboanga City Police Office under Senior Supt. Thomas Joseph Marthir.

The anti-drug operation is part of the high-impact operations to account for major drug traffickers in the region as ordered by Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde. (PNA)
