QUEZON CITY – Solo parents will be entitled to a 20-percent discount in restaurants and food chains in Quezon City, the Manila Bulletin reported.
But Quezon City Vice Mayor Josefina Belmonte clarified the markdown will only be applicable every first and fourth Sundays of the month and when the registered solo parent brings his or her children.
Furthermore, the privilege is not extended to their boyfriends/girlfriends or live-in partners.
One has to present his or her solo parent identification cards to the restaurant personnel before availing the 20-percent discount.
Earlier, Belmonte led the distribution of solo parent identification cards to hundreds of solo parents, mostly women.
(You are very fortunate to be the recipients of the solo parent ID since you would receive benefits in purchasing basic food items aside from the 1,200 solo parents who benefitted from the Tindahan ni Ate Joy program where P10,000 worth of grocery items were attached to them being the starting capital for the recipients who now will have their source of livelihood. The city government is alos pushing for additional benefits that can be provided for the solo parent of the city.)
This is a product of the single parent ordinance crafted by Quezon City Councilor Racquel Malangen.
