TWENTY individuals completed the full cycle of the JobStart Philippines Program 2017, Public Employment Service Office (PESO-Iloilo) Chief Francisco Heler said.
JobStart is a youth employment facilitation program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and Government of Canada.
The graduates underwent career coaching administered by trained career guidance advocates.
They were also able to complete skills training, which aimed to prepare them for the workplace; and technical training conducted with their employer, Technical Vocational Institutes (TVI) or Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
According to Heler, these graduates already had their internship with their respective companies.
209 individuals registered for the JobStart Program. Some, however, were not able to complete the employment cycle.
PESO-Iloilo has been selected as one of 15 project areas for the JobStart Program after it attained an 88.57 percent high level readiness during the assessment of the Burea of Local Employment (BLE).
The program is beneficial to the young Filipinos aged 18-24 as it provides career guidance and employment, life skills training, and workplace experience, Heler noted.
