CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan -- Twenty-seven drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted by Bulacan police Wednesday and early morning of Thursday.

Col. Chito G. Bersaluna, director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said that four of those arrested are on the drug watch list in their respective areas.

He identified them as Rosanta Avila and Jaime Villaluz, both included in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council Drug (BADAC) watch list of Baliwag; Jhomel Apostol, included in the BADAC drug watch list and former surrenderer and reformist in the “Oplan Tokhang” of Obando; and Ian Del Rosario, included in the drug watch list of San Ildefonso.

Also arrested were Rodrigo Guevarra Jr., Arlo Del Rosario, Brando Riano, Evelyn Peru, Jerson Villamor, Ruel Custodio, Vergel Valencia, Willy Salas, Val Angkiangkol, Jayson Arsena, Noel Sanchez, Joelito Morada, Ricky Victolero, Willy Dela Cruz, Ryan Cruz, Julius Ubongen, John Mark Quisto, Julius Salazar, Adulraman Barambangan, Reymark Obispado, Markson Luciano, Raphael Gulinao, and a 17-year-old boy.

“Our anti-illegal drug operatives confiscated 66 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, marked money and assorted drug paraphernalia during the different buy-bust operations conducted in the towns of Baliwag, Obando, San Ildefonso, Santa Maria and in the cities of Malolos and San Jose del Monte,” Bersaluna said.

He said the arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination.

Criminal charges against the arrested suspects are now being prepared for filing in court, he added.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Malolos City PNP and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) commended Barangay Sto. Niño in the City of Malolos for being declared as "drug-free".

The barangay is the first in the province of Bulacan to be cleared of illegal drugs. (PNA)
