ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Four people were killed while one was wounded in a shooting incident in an island town in Basilan province, a top police official disclosed Friday.
Senior Supt. Rufino Inot, Basilan police director, said the incident happened in Barangay Sangbay Big, Hadji Muhtamad municipality at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Inot identified the fatalities as Nasra Asamudding, 26, Bassal Sahibad, Raddiyo Sahibad, and a certain Arab.
He said the wounded victim was only identified as a certain Parisa.
He said investigation showed that the victims were at their residence when the suspect, Albani Ahmad, armed with an M-16 Armalite rifle arrived and opened fire.
Ahmad, who is a councilor of Barangay Sangbay Big, has gone into hiding after the incident, Inot said.
Criminal charges are being readied against Ahmad. (PNA)
