COTABATO CITY — Anti-narcotics agents busted four drug suspects, two of them siblings, in separate raids Saturday in this city and nearby Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, and seized some PHP6.8-million worth of shabu.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), said arrested in the Pigcawayan raid was Nards Atis, a high-value target in the PDEA list of drug suspects.

Atis fell in a drug buy-bust operation past 6 p.m. at Barangay South Manuangan, Pigcawayan town.

Pigcawayan, a part of Soccsksargen (Region 12) in North Cotabato, is situated some 30 kilometers away north of this city.

“The suspect (Atis) has been under PDEA surveillance for the past three months,” Azurin said in an interview by local Radyo Bandera station.

The suspect allegedly deals shabu drugs in Cotabato City, Pigcawayan, and other nearby towns in North Cotabato and Maguindanao provinces.

Seized from him were 10 jumbo packs of shabu weighing 500 grams with an estimated street value of PHP3.4-million.

Earlier on the same day, PDEA-BARMM agents also collared three suspected drug dealers following a sting operation at the parking lot of a government hospital here.

Azurin identified those arrested as siblings Mogia and Norma, both surnamed Medzil, and a certain “Bai”.

Seized from them were 10 jumbo-sized packets of shabu weighing 500 grams with a street value of PHP3.4- million.

The three were nabbed around 11:50 a.m. after dealing with a poseur-buyer, according to Azurin.

All suspects are detained at the PDEA custodial facility here where charges for violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. (PNA)
