MAKATI CITY – Four streets in Makati City were reopened following a suspected gas leak from a Phoenix Petroleum gas station which prompted authorities to ban motorists from passing through the area last week, based on reports.

Officials earlier closed the streets of Evangelista, Estrella, Heneral Luna, and Heneral Macabulos in the city because of residents' complaint of a foul odor from the said gas station.

The Bureau of Fire Protection ordered the reopening of roads after the area registered a zero explosivity level, meaning it is safe from any threat of gas explosion. Roadblocks were already removed from the area.

Meanwhile, the Makati City government is set to meet gasoline station owners to discuss the recent incident.

Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay reportedly ordered Acting City Administrator Atty. Michael Camina to hold the meeting to remind owners to inspect their fuel lines and tanks on a regular basis and immediately report any untoward incident.
