7th SOLAR IRRIGATION PROJECT TURNED OVER TO FARMERS FEB. 19



The Department of Agriculture (DA) will inaugurate and commission the 7th Solar Powered Irrigation Project in Barangay Wawa Ibayo, Lumban, Laguna on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol said the project, which will be the first for Laguna Province, will irrigate an initial area of 50 hectares which could be expanded with additional distribution pipes.

Constructed by Heal the World Corp., the project costs P5.7 million and is one of 169 units of Solar Powered Irrigation Systems which are being built or have been completed since the launching of the new irrigation innovation by President Rody Duterte in March 2017.

Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez, mayors of Laguna and at least 800 farmers will witness the turnover ceremony to the Wawa Ibayo farmers group who will operate and maintain the facility.
