Manila, Philippines – A priest had been put behind bars after with one accomplice, they were caught selling shabu in a buy-bust operation in Bacoor City, Cavite, on Thursday night.

According to SPO1 Christian Rosales, the Philippine Drug enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel bought PHP 200 worth of shabu from the priest during the operation in Tagumpay Compound, Tabing Dagat, Barangay Alima.

The priest who is also known as “Perling,” was caught while his companion known as “Nanding” is still being searched by the authorities. The priest had been highly known as a drug pusher in the barangay.

The operatives had confiscated PHP 3,400 worth of shabu.

“Perling” was ordained in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Imus and currently a member of the Sacred Order of St. Michael. He was also a former member of the Catholic Church for England and Wales.

Recently, various catholic churches had reacted to the harsh statements of the President Rodrigo Duterte against the priests, and ever since the chief executive declared war on drugs in the country, the church as an institution had been vocal, opposing the high death tolls of drug bust operations.
