ARAW NG DAVAO HIGHLIGHTS PARADA DABAWENYO, KUMBIRA
DAVAO CITY-More than 400 contingents including city officials, city Hall employees, senatoriables, and celebrities joined the Parada Dabawenyo during the culmination of the 82nd Araw ng Davao on March 16.
Senatoriables Christopher “Bong” Go, Sonny Angara, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Zajid Mangungudatu, Jiggy Manicad, Francis Tolentino, JV Ejercito, Pia Cayetano, and Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos made their way to the parade wherein some were walking while some aboard their floats.
Celebrity supporters like Sophia Andres, Robin Padilla, Philip Salvador, Bayani Agbayani were also spotted during the parade.
Adding excitement to the spectacle were Kapuso stars Kyline Alcantara, There’s Malvar, and Manolo Pedrosa.
The parade was also participated by companies and organizations that include Yamaha Bikers Club Davao Chapter, Aa Riders Guild, Junior Drug Busters, Accendo Commercial Corp, Avida Land Corp, Filipino Homes, Globe Telecom, Hyundai Davao, PizzaHut, Seda Abreeza Hotel, Development Bank of the Philippines, and OFW Global Movement for Empowerment.
The Kumbira sa Davao wherein pack lunch and 100 whole Lechon baka were prepared and served for those who participated and came to witness the parade.
Meanwhile, more than 5,000 Dabawenyos trooped and feasted on lechon baka in “Kumbira sa Davao”, which is a yearly feast on lechon baka and one of the highlights of Araw ng Davao.
Duterte said the lechon baka is a ‘gift’ to the Dabawenyos from the Filipinong may Puso Foundation every year.
The mayor also considered the partnership of the city government and the Filipinong may Puso Foundation as a great blessing with the latter’s unfading support to all the city’s activities including the Kumbira in which 50 lechon baka are served to the people of Davao.
Aside from the lechon baka, lechon manok was also served to the public alongside with the 4,900 grocery packs from the Filipinong may Puso foundation.
Duterte also thanked the participants, military, police and Davaoenos for participating and for keeping the activity peaceful.
“We are one level up in terms of alertness because we don’t want to give any chance for terrorists to enter the city. No major violations with regards to no backpack policy,” said Davao City Police director Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum in an interview.
” Araw Ng Dabaw” is a city-wide celebration for the anniversary of Davao City on March 16.
