Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade lead the site inspection on the ongoing Bicol International Airport on Thursday.
Known as the 'Most Scenic Gateway', the airport has a 57.44% completion rate and expected to boost to the economy as well as the tourism of the region.
At the moment, the airport was complete which included the airstrip, runway, taxiway, apron, perimeter, and fence. On the other hand, the landside was still in construction.
Around two million passengers every year were anticipated to be accommodated in June 2020.
Aside from Sec. Tugade there were also other officials who visited the site including DOTr Usec. for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal, Tourism Asec. Myra Abubakar, DOTr Asec. for Communications Goddes Hope Libiran, and CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration, General Ricardo Banayat.
