LEGAZPI CITY -- The Police Regional Office 5 (Bicol region) conducted the "Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo Trainors' Training" here Thursday to boost the youth's awareness on terrorism and illegal drugs.
Police Major Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said in an interview that with the holding of the activity, they expect students, youth leaders and out-of-school youth to be educated on the ill effects of illegal drugs, as well as prevent them from joining any terrorist organization.
“This will also inflame the spirit of volunteerism among the youth and at the same time, mobilize them as advocates to help in the counter-radicalization efforts of the government and to mitigate the infiltration of agitators from the front organization of the communist insurgents into schools and universities,” Calubaquib said.
She added that the training will promote the welfare of the youth by preventing them from falling victim to syndicates.
The activity was attended by a total of 283 young Bicolanos and representatives of law enforcement and other government agencies involved in the mobilization of force multipliers, schools and colleges and teachers and parents' associations considered as proactive partners in the nationwide cascading of advocacies on the fight against terrorism and illegal drugs.
