ZAMBOANGA CITY--Authorities arrested a British national for theft in the Zamboanga Sibugay town of Ipil, a top police official said Tuesday.
Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the arrested foreigner as Ali Mukta Zahid, 53, a resident of Purok Palmera, Barangay Taway, in Ipil.
Zahid was arrested around 7:45 a.m. through a two-year-old warrant of arrest in his residence, Licup said. A bail of PHP40,000 has been recommended for his temporary liberty.
Licup said the British was earlier arrested based on a warrant of arrest for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injury and damage to property issued on November 9, 2015 by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Ipil-Tungawan-R.T. Lim.
Zahid was detained at the Ipil Municipal Police Station for proper disposition prior to turn-over to the court. (PNA)
