Last year’s COPRE participants


THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-6 has endorsed the College Press Conference (COPRE) and Awards 2018 spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-6.

In Memorandum No. 182, Series of 2018, CHED-6 has endorsed the Regional College Press Conference and the Regional Recognition Program slated on November 29, 2018 at the Mansion Hotel here.

“We are holding again our COPRE and Awards for the year 2018 as our way of recognizing the performance of school publications and the individual writers in the field of development journalism,” said PIA-6 OIC-Regional Head Jaime S. Cabag, Jr.

Cabag said COPRE is an annual activity facilitated by the agency, where campus paper writers from various higher education institutions in Western Visayas converge for fellowship and writing competitions.

This year, over 60 campus papers participated in the various publication contest categories.

Major categories include Best Magazine, Best Newspaper/Tabloid and Best Departmental Paper, while the minor categories are Best News Page, Best Editorial Page, Best Feature Page, Best Sports Page, Best Multi-lingual Page, Best Filipino Page, Best Magazine Cover Design, Best Magazine Lay-out, and Best Newspaper Lay-out.

On one hand, special categories include Best Literary Folio, Best College Newsletter, Best Wall Newspaper, and Best Online Newsletter.

Publications in high school also took part in the following categories: Best High School Newsletter/Tabloid, Best Online Newsletter, and Best Multi-lingual Paper.

Aside from the publication contests, on-the-spot writing competitions and the Mr. and Ms. COPRE pageant will also be conducted during the event.
