Commission on Election (Comelec) gave candidates and voters some reminders for the 45-day campaign period.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said the candidates should be a good example of law-abiding citizens and to “keep it clean”. He advised political candidates to be considerate on their constituents as well as to supervise their supporters.
“Literally, wag kayong magkalat. Pwede ring masabing figurative yung ‘keep it clean’, huwag kayo mag kalat. Pangatlo, be considerate. Ayusin natin yung pangangampaniya natin para hindi tayo nakakabalahaw sa mga mamamayan kung saan tayo nangangampaniya. Mas mainam siyempre na isipin din natin yung pangangailangan ng mga constituents natin. At pang-apat, keep calm. Make sure na yung mga supporters ninyo ay narerendahan ninyo para hindi nagkakaroon ng kaguluhan maiwasan natin yung mga hindi kanais-nais na tagpo sa mga kampaniya, (Literally, do not litter. It could also be figurative ‘keep it clean’. Third, be considerate. The campaign should be appropriate so we would not disturb the citizens where we do the campaign. Fourth, keep calm. Make sure you could control your supporters so there won’t be any problems and prevent unwanted scenarios during a campaign period),” said Jimenez.
He encouraged the voters to check out character, track record and the standpoint of the candidate they’re going to vote for.
“Tandaan ninyo itong darating na halalan ang pagkakataon para hubugin ang tatlong taong darating. So huwag niyo sayangin yung pagkakataon (Remember this upcoming election is the chance to mold the next 3 years. So do not blow it.),” said Jimenez. (CHAY ALDAY/LEAGUE ONLINE NEWS)
