ZAMBOANGA CITY — An alleged “contract killer” was arrested in an intelligence-driven manhunt operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, a top police official announced Friday.

Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, identified the arrested suspect as Alberto Belliones Macasling alias Arnel, 47, a resident of Barangay Banganon, Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte.

Licup said Macasling was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest in the village of Libuton, Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

He said Macasling has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of frustrated murder with a recommended bail of PHP200,000, issued by the court in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

The suspect, he said, was allegedly responsible for the recent shooting of a local resident, identified as Bartolome Abis, over a land conflict and was “newly-monitored to be engaged in gun-for-hire” activities.

He said Macasling has been placed under the custody of the Manukan municipal police. (PNA)
