COTABATO CITY -- Police authorities are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage following the ambush-slay of a 45-year-old trader here and the wounding of his companion during a daring mid-day attack on Friday.
Police Col. Michael Lebanan, city police director, identified the slain trader as Rebonito “Bon-Bon” Padlan, of Teodoro V. Juliano Ave., Barangay Rosary Heights 12, this city.
Injured was Joven Dapat, 40, supervisor of San Miguel Beer (SMB) Corp. and a resident of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
The victims were about to enter the residential and SMB compound of Padlan along Juliano Ave. when the gunmen appeared.
“Padlan was driving his Honda RAV 4 vehicle with Dapat at past 12 noon when two men riding on a motorbike opened fire at them,” Lebanan told reporters here in an interview Saturday.
He said Padlan was hit on the head and body while Dapat sustained a gunshot wound on his back.
The riding-in-tandem suspects sped off towards an unknown direction after the incident.
Responding policemen rushed the victims to a hospital where Padlan expired an hour later.
Lebanan said investigators are still trying to determine the identities of the perpetrators, who were caught on Padlan’s home CCTV security cameras. (PNA)
