SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique will accept late enrollees in both elementary and secondary levels only until the end of June, said a local official of the Department of Education (DepEd) here Tuesday.

“We would like to remind the parents of the school children that the late enrollment will only be until the end of this month,” OIC-superintendent, Dr. Victor De Gracia said in an interview

He said the school year 2019-2020 already started last June 3 but DepEd has extended the enrollment time until the end of the month hoping that those who were unable to enroll could still make it.

“Just in case there are really students who could still not beat the end of June for their enrollment, DepEd will cater to them on a case-to-case basis,” De Gracia said.

He added the transferees from other schools will also be attended to depending on their circumstances.

In Antique, the first day of classes went smoothly last June 3. A total of 3,926 teachers in the elementary and 1,743 teachers in the secondary levels held classes during the opening day.

The projected enrollment for the public schools in the province is 12,926 in the 480 elementary schools and 57 secondary schools.

“With the extension of enrollment, we still could not give the exact number of students enrolled in the schools,” De Gracia said.

He said that DepEd is still processing the number of students enrolled for this school year. (PNA)
