DFA: NO PINOYS HARMED IN DENMARK TRAIN CRASH THAT KILLED 8
MANILA – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato on Thursday night reported that no Filipino was among the casualties in the train accident in Denmark that killed eight and wounded 16 others.
"The Department has been informed that there were no Filipinos on board the ill-fated train that figured in the accident in Denmark yesterday," he confirmed in a text message.
According to reports, a commuter train carrying 134 people was heading towards Copenhagen from Odense City when it was hit by an object from a freight train crossing the opposite direction at the Great Belt Bridge that connects Denmark's two biggest islands --Zealand and Funen.
From the six fatalities on Wednesday, the death toll increased to eight with scores injured.
A DFA bulletin said there are about 12,000 members of the Filipino community living in the Scandinavian country. (PNA)
