The Department of Labor and Employment has set up Korean Assistance Desks to facilitate speedy processing and issuance of Alien Employment Permit (AEP) to Korean nationals intending to work in the country.
In Labor Advisory No. 2, Series of 2019, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III prescribed the procedures to be observed by the DOLE Regional Offices in operating the Korean Assistance Desks, which are located in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Central Visayas, and Davao Region.
As stated in the Korean Assistance Desk Operating Guidelines, the processing and issuance of AEP must be strictly made within three working days from receipt of application, provided that the AEP application and all supporting documents are complete and correct.
Otherwise, the designated focal person/s must immediately inform the foreign national or the authorized representative to undertake corrective actions.
The revocation/cancellation of AEP and other cases affecting the employment of Korean nationals must be promptly resolved and reported to the Office of the Secretary, through the Bureau of Local Employment, within five days from its occurrence/resolution.
A document which authorizes a foreign national to work in the country, the AEP is issued by the labor department after determination of the non-availability of a Filipino who is competent, able, and willing at the time of application to perform the services for which the alien is preferred.
