MANILA – Manila City Mayor-elect Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is seeking the assistance of student council officials of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) to govern the country’s capital, a report by Manila Bulletin said.
“Help me succeed,” Domagoso told student leaders of the state-run university.
“Mataas po ang tingin ko sa inyong mga kabataan. You are not just students, but also citizens of Manila who have a duty to help the city and its citizens succeed,” he said.
During the meeting, student council officials welcomed Domagoso’s plans, noting his intention to make the city vibrant and energetic.
They also echoed their complaints to the former vice mayor over issues engulfing the campus which include lack of transparency on the disbursement of development funds, congested laboratories and libraries, and current state of PLM cafeterias.
In turn, Domagoso pledged to appoint a new PLM president who resides in Manila and a product of the public education system.
“Sa ganitong paraan, alam ng bagong PLM President kung ano ang mga hinaharap na hamon ng mga mag-aaral ng public schools,” he said.
“Kapag walang nangyaring reporma sa one hundred days na iyon, then come back to me. Singilin niyo po ang aking opisina ng mga repormang iyon,” he added.
The incoming city mayor discussed some of his plans for Manila City such as placing the PLM College of Medicine inside the Ospital ng Maynila from the PLM campus in Intramuros to familiarize medical students with the city’s health facilities.
