DOOR-TO-DOOR IMMUNIZATION DRIVE IN ILOILO CITY

THE Iloilo City Government together with the Department of Health (DOH)-6 started the door-to-door supplemental immunization on Oct. 22, 2018.

The DOH aims to immunize every child at 6 to 59 months old with Measles-Rubella Vaccine (MR Vaccine) and Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to prevent the spread of diseases.

Phase I of immunization will end on Nov. 23 while Phase II will be on the first and second quarter of next year.

Dr. Renilyn Reyes, head of Family, Health and Nutrition Cluster, noted that Iloilo City has 10 out of 119 cases of measles in Western Visayas this year.

“The only thing that we can do to prevent these kinds of diseases is to give vaccines to our children. We encourage you, the parents, and guardians, to bring your child to the nearest health centers to be immunized. We have the saying, be wise, immunize,” Reyes said.

“We have nothing to worry about the vaccines,” she said. (PIO)
