GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Government operatives dismantled an alleged drug den and arrested five “high-value target” drug personalities in an operation in a village in Koronadal City on Thursday afternoon.
Rey Pavillar, deputy director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 12 (Soccsksargen), said Friday the drug den was discovered during a buy-bust operation in a house in Pantua Village, Barangay Zone 3-Poblacion in Koronadal City at past 3 p.m.
He said the entrapment, backed by elements of the Koronadal City police and the South Cotabato police drug enforcement unit, targeted suspected pusher, Hilda Babano Lano alias “Idang”, 45, the owner of the house.
Lano was arrested after reportedly selling a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer, he said.
He said also arrested at the scene were four other suspected drug pushers, identified as Reynaldo Martizano Belleza, alias “Boyaks”, 58; Ryan Cabangon Lano, 37; Raul Babano Lano, 60; and Marvin Jon Hisug Natar, 37.
Pavillar said the operating team recovered at the scene two medium-sized sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 10 grams and with an estimated street value of PHP68,000; three pieces of aluminum foil strips; a crumpled aluminum foil; a folded aluminum foil; assorted disposable lighters; and the PHP500 marked bill used in the buy-bust.
The official said Belleza is the live-in partner of Hilda Lano and is directly involved in the operations of the uncovered drug den.
“Both have been in the illegal drug business for several months and used the house as a drug den,” Pavillar said in a report.
A separate report released by the Police Regional Office 12 said the five suspects, who are detained at the PDEA-12 lockup here, were considered as “high-value targets” and among the top drug pushers in the area.
Belleza and Lano will be charged with violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Section 6 (maintenance of a den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), and Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia), under Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The three other suspects will be charged with violation of Section 7 (visitors of a drug den) of RA 9165. (PNA)
