The Philippine Astronomical Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirmed on the press briefing on Wednesday that the country would experience El Niño, a weather pattern connected with reduced rainfall.

According to Climate Information Monitoring Section Chief Analiza Solis, the agency is considering the possibility that Ilocos Region and some area in western Mindanao are on or delayed of rainy season due to El Niño.

PAGASA is expecting the phenomenon to be full blown by the end of February or March. On summer the temperature in Tuguegarao, Cagayan could reach 40.7 degrees, while Metro Manila would experience 38.2 degrees.

Because of the said phenomenon, PAGASA Weather Division chief Esperanza Cayanan explained the water supply in dams will be low which would not be enough to provide electricity in Metro Manila, as a result there would be brown outs.
