GUNMAN IN VILLAGE EXEC’S SLAY TRY NABBED IN ZAMBO CITY
ZAMBOANGA CITY--Police authorities have arrested the gunman behind the attempted killing of a barangay executive in Basilan province, an official said Wednesday.
Police Major Elmer Solon, Police Station 11 chief, identified the arrested suspect as Abdulwalid Saabdulla alias Walid, 29, a resident of Barangay Tampalan, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan.
Solon said Saabdulla was arrested around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the historical Plaza Pershing in coordination with Isabela City policemen.
Solon said Saabdulla has been tagged as the gunman who shot Mahmor Amputo Ibrahim, 52, the barangay chairperson of Tong-Umus, Tabuan Lasa, Basilan.
Isabela City police said Saabdulla allegedly shot Ibrahim while the victim was watching a fire incident around 9:45 p.m. Monday in Barangay Port Area, Isabela City.
Ibrahim was rushed to the hospital in Isabela City and was later transferred to a medical facility in this city for further treatment. (PNA)
