The House of Representatives has adopted on second reading House Resolution No. 2479, expressing its sense in support of Secretary Silvestre Bello III as Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment ((DOLE).

The resolution, principally authored by Deputy Speakers Mylene Garcia-Albano and Randolph Ting, Reps. Rodolfo Albano III (1st District, Isabela), Arnel Ty (Party-list, LPGMA), and Aniceto “John” Bertiz III (Party-list, ACTs OFW), states that under Bello’s leadership, the DOLE projects and programs are felt by the people in general and Filipino workers in the country and overseas Filipino workers, in particular.

The resolution also acknowledges that Bello is a person of “impeccable honesty, integrity and dedication in the public service.”

“Secretary Bello brings impartiality to his work, devoid of any personal agenda as DOLE Secretary,” the resolution states.

It further cites that Bello steered the DOLE to implement the government’s commitment to address basic and pressing concerns of Filipino workers such as End of Contractualization (ENDO) in favor of regularization.

He also steered the creation of One Stop Shops to cut bureaucratic red tape and simplify procedures for Filipino workers, the resolution states.

Moreover, under Bello’s leadership, the DOLE ensured the protection and promotion of the welfare of OFWs abroad and the implementation of relevant programs such as Tulong Hanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), Government Internship Program (GIP), DOLE Integrated Livelihood, Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Jobstart Philippines Program, Public Employment Service (PES), Job Fairs, Labor Laws Compliance System, Family Welfare Program and Kasambahay Program, Adjusted Measures Program, and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), the resolution states.

The resolution is co-authored by 85 House Members.
