ILLEGAL DRUGS STILL RAMPANT IN THE PHILIPPINES – NCRPO

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) admitted that although they have arrested more than 79,000 drug addicts in the past three years, illegal drugs are still rampant in the Philippines.

According to NCRPO chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, “in spite of napakaraming hinuhuli, yung iba ay nagkakaroon pa ng encounter at may mga namamatay and yet maraming nakikipagsaparalan dahil sa pera na involved dito (In spite of a lot of criminals getting caught, others who have encountered with the police and died there were still some who dare because of the money).”

Aside from that, he mentioned that the drug syndicate engaged with massive illegal drug activities would not stop.

Eleazar said that all concerned agencies such as Philippine Drug Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and other agencies were joining forces to solve the illegal drug entry which was distributed not only in Metro Manila but within the country.

Last Tuesday, May 28, the authorities confiscated one and a half kilos of shabu with a total of P10.2 million street value in a buy-bust operation in Pateros, Metro Manila. The arrested suspect, Angelo Reyes, was said to be connected with Chinese nationals involved with the illegal drug trade in Metro Manila and Laguna. (CHAY ALDAY/LEAGUE ONLINE NEWS)
