THE Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), was awarded as Best LGU Implementing Outstanding Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Employment Facilitation Model.
It is the only LGU in the country to win in the category.
The award was given during the Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNata ko sa Bayan) – Gawad sa Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) Awards held at the Landbank of the Philippines Auditorium in Malate, Manila on February 15, 2019.
It is given to local government units which implement programs and services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) such as sustainable livelihood program and micro enterprise and employment facilitation models with convergence initiative which improve the lives and provide better opportunities to marginalized sectors of the society.
Iloilo Province was also cited for generously supporting the advocacies, thrusts and priorities of DSWD’ sustainable livelihood program and creating a conducive and enabling social economic environment for the beneficiaries.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said the award is a proof of the province’s outstanding performance.
“We have received a lot of awards already. In fact, I have lost track of those we received last year. But this is an indication of how good we are,” Defensor said.
