About P65 million worth of counterfeit goods from fashion brands, cellphones, watches, to pirated DVDs were destroyed at the Camp Crame on Friday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) together with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) lead the dismantling of the confiscated items.
The said goods were part of what the National Committee on Intellectual Property Right's (NCIPR) total seizure in 2018 which were around worth P23.6 billion.
According to IPOPHL Director General Josephine Santiago, "This shows a growth of 188 percent over that of 2017. This is the largest amount confiscated by the government since 2008."
