LAS PIÑAS OPENS NEW WOMEN’S DORM IN CITY JAIL
LAS PIÑAS – Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar, accompanied by Vice Mayor Luis Bustamante and her daughter April Aguilar, led the inauguration of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s Women’s Dormitory, the Manila Standard reported.
The new facility, which has a floor area of 636 square meters, can house triple-deck beds and is equipped with a kitchen, toilet, and bath.
The local government constructed the new women’s dormitory to help decongest the city jail which occupies occupies the whole fourth floor of a building located within the compound.
Last year, the region’s BJMP awarded the Las Piñas City Jail Female Dormitory as one of the top ten jail dormitories for its initiatives in jail management.
Earlier, Aguilar led the turnover of 100 electric tricycles to beneficiaries from the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations.
Tricycle drivers and operators came from Barangay Pilar, Talon Dos, Pamplona Tres, Talon Singko, Almanza Uno, and Pulanglupa Uno.
Prior to that, they underwent underwent training from the representatives of BEMAC Electric Transportation, the manufacturer of e-trikes.
The e-trike project is a partnership between the local government and the Department of Energy. It is part of the campaign of the city government to achieve an environment-friendly mode of transportation as an alternative to the gas-fueled tricycles.
Aside from being clean and energy-efficient, using e-tricycles will help lessen carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to air pollution.
