Mayor Democrito Diamante of Tuburan, Cebu has challenged the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu chapter to take a cohesive initiative against political discrimination and instead raise awareness that every resident in each municipality has equal opportunity for growth.
Diamante hurled this challenge to LMP as he sees in this organization of local chief executives the potential of being the key to ensure sustainable development in every municipality in Cebu.
The LMP in coordination with the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) is one concerned group with which the National Government regularly consults on vital concerns toward nation-building. The Coalition of Municipalities and Cities of the Philippines has been credited by two previous administrations of the National Government to have effectively helped Presidents of this Land formulate right policies, proper budget allocations and sustaining services.
Diamante said the LMP-Cebu chapter should be more dynamic this time to see to it that when a local chief executive ends his term, he leaves a legacy for the next generation to follow.
“I have always been a good follower. Whoever leads the LMP, I will toe the line. I will convince my fellow mayors to rally behind our battle cry to minimize, if not eradicate, the many struggles faced by our respective constituents, as well as to be committed, and stay committed, to the ideals our great Cebuano leaders had stood for.” Diamante said.
