LIMITED WATER SUPPLY AWAITS METRO MANILA CUSTOMERS

Customers in parts of Metro Manila and the Rizal province may experience limited to no water supply starting today, March 6.

In its advisory, Manila Water Co. Inc. said it will be implementing operational adjustments which may affect water service across the entire East Zone as the water level at the La Mesa Dam declines due to limited inflows from rainfall.

The Philippine, Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the water line at the dam was pegged at 69.47 meters above sea level (masl) as of 6 a.m. on March 5.

The dam’s normal high water level, or the point at which it spills water, is at 80.15 masl.

Manila Water is also implementing this measure in light of Pagasa’s advisory of the currently El Niño climatic phenomenon although it is a weak occurrence.

Residents of the affected barangays are advised to store enough water to supply their needs during these periods.

Affected customers are those residing in Marikina, Pasig, Quezon City, Taguig, and Antipolo, Angono, Binangonan, San Mateo, Rodriguez, Taytay, and Jalajala in Rizal.
