MAKATI CITY – The Makati City government has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education-Makati (DepEd-Makati) and A. Venue Hotel for training for special students.

The deal was signed between Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay; Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Rita Riddle; Assistant SDS Brian Ilan; Mike Juan, Officer-in Charge of A. Venue; and Vissia Marie Aldon, Human Resource head of Makati City Hall during the Work Immersion Ceremonial Signing.

Under the MOA signed on Thursday, 11 Special Education (SpEd) Learners under the local government’s SPEED for SpED, a training program for SpEd learners aimed at increasing their productivity and employability, will be given an opportunity to have their training at the said hotel.

This also covers transportation and meal allowances for SpEd Learners.

Earlier this month, the local government unveiled it has allotted P2.8 billion for education this year.

Binay had said the city has earmarked around P700 million for Project FREE (Free Relevant and Excellent Education).

Through the project, the city provides schoolchildren in public schools up to senior high school with free school shoes, school uniforms and P.E. uniforms, and various school supplies. Free school bags are also given to Kinder, SPED and Grade 1 students.

“As I have said, my administration is committed to providing the youth of Makati the best education we can afford. Thus, we have been proactively looking for ways to boost the benefits they are currently receiving from the city government,” Binay said.
