A service elevator crashed down from the 47th floor of PBCom Tower in Ayala Avenue, Makati.

On Friday morning, 30 persons boarded at 52nd floor of the said establishment. With a normal speed until reaching the 47th floor, the elevator immediately lost function, crashing fast towards ground floor.

Fourteen were reported hurt who are employees of Huawei Technology and also working in business processing outsource companies.

The rest received minor injuries.

The injured were taken to Makati Medical Center and Ospital ng Maynila for first aid.

PBCom Tower once held the record for being the tallest building in the Philippines. As of 2008, it was the 98th tallest in the world. It had been opened in 2000 for business and office leasing.

Authorities are now looking if the building’s quality and maintenance are still updated based  on safety regulations.
