MANILA SPENDS OVER P45-M FOR EDUC AID SINCE 2013
MANILA CITY – Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada said the local government has spent more than P45 million for educational assistance to students since 2013.
“More than P45M has been distributed to Manilenyo students since 2013,” Estrada said. “Wisdom is a treasure that can not be acquired and stolen, so many parents are striving to send their children to school to ensure a brighter tomorrow.”
Since he assumed the post in 2013, the city mayor has been providing financial aid to help students belonging to indigent families.
Earlier, the city government has extended capital assistance to thousands of residents in a bid to improve their livelihood.
Each beneficiary receives P5,000 worth of financial assistance under the local government’s Capital Assistance Program which, according to Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada, would help lift people from poverty.
Under this program, each indigent beneficiary will be given a cash loan which they can use to open a business.
No interest will be charged for taking the loan. Those with good standing can borrower a larger amount of money to grow their business.
