MANILA – Manila Water Co. Inc. completed its pipelaying and road restoration works along Manila East Road, enabling the East Zone concessionaire to supply water to portions of Rizal province.
The completion of the 11-kilometer long, 800 mm diameter pipelaying and road restoration project allows the Ayala-led utility to bring water supply from its Cardona Water Treatment Plant to the towns of Taytay, Angono, and Binangonan.
The Cardona Water Treatment Plant Transmission Lines project which commenced in the third quarter of 2018 was completed ahead of the original target completion schedule of August 2019.
Manila Water explained that the restoration works needed fast-tracking for completion before the rainy days set in and before the start of the school year to mitigate traffic congestion.
This compelled the listed firm to work round-the-clock in order to meet the adjusted timeline of restoration of May 31 to June 30.
Traffic schemes were also implemented to address the heavy traffic in certain areas along Manila East Road.
“We would like to extend our gratitude for the support of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) and affected residents in Rizal throughout the duration of the project,” Manila Water Group Director for Corporate Project Management Maidy Lynne Quinto said.
“We greatly appreciate the support we have always been accorded by our stakeholders in carrying out our projects and programs. We continue to be committed in serving the citizens of Rizal the best way we can,” she added. (JL/LON)
