MARIKINA BUSINESSMEN JOIN COMPREHENSIVE LAND USE PLAN DISCUSSION

Business leaders of Marikina’s business community recently joined a discussion and shared their inputs and ideas about the Comprehensive Land Use Program that’s being drafted by the City Planning Office of Marikina.

Businessmen and investors belonging to the four major cluster industries – services, leather, food and restaurant, and real estate and property management ― discussed with City Government officials the strategies on how to optimize the use of land in Marikina to sustain the growth and development of the city in the coming years.

They also talked about the issues and challenges that these industries are currently facing and how to address them.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro is putting in place various measures to strengthen the economy of Marikina City including forging ties with other cities  in the country and abroad to expand the market of its local products such as shoes, bags and food. Marikina and Davao earlier this year forged a sister city agreement.

Mayor Marcy’s administration is also upgrading the infrastructure in Marikina to attract more investors and tourists that will help boost businesses in the city.

Among those who attended the discussion and planning workshop include Jeanette Lee, president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Marikina; Antonio Andres, president of the Philippine Footwear Federation, Inc. (PFFI); Lito Lopez, former PFFI president; Neil Nepomuceno, vice president of PFFI; Jundio Salvador, owner of Pan de Amerikana restaurant and bakery.

Also in attendance were this year’s officers of PFFI such as Edgar Santos of Bibo Shoes, Gloria Magtaos of Alria Shoes, Roweliza Landicho of Roweliza Shoes, Monica Escaño of Otto Shoes, and City Hall officials including Ma. Lourdes “Lou” Dela Paz, officer-in-charge of the Trade and Industry Office of Marikina.

The meeting was held at the Kapitan Moy on October 19, 2018.
