MARIKINA CLEANS STREETS AFTER NEW YEAR CELEB
MARIKINA CITY – Marikina City welcomed the first day of 2019 with cleaner streets and environment while other areas dealt with tons of trash after celebrating New Year.
City Hall employees under the City Environmental Management Office (CEMO) flocked to the streets and started cleaning up the trash left by residents.
Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro also called on residents to start the year with cleaner environment by cleaning their homes, surroundings, and communities.
“Simulan natin ang unang araw ng baong taon ng paglilinis sa harapan ng ating mga tahanan at mga pamayanan. Makakaasa po kayo sa mas dobleng sipat at aksyon agad ng Marikina City Hall upang patuloy na mapaglingkuran ang bawat Marikenyo,” Teodoro said in his New Year message.
(We marked the first day of the year by cleaning our houses and communities. Rest assured we will double our efforts to serve every Marikina City resident.)
“Lubos tayong inaasahan ng ating mga kababayan. Pagsumikapan natin silang mapaglingkuran ng magalang at mabilis (Our people are relying on us. Let’s strive to serve them politely and swiftly),” he added.
Meanwhile, Teodoro encouraged young people to emulate the examples and the martyrdom of the Philippines’ national hero Dr. Jose Rizal by serving the country wholeheartedly.
“We are this generation’s Rizal. Let us do our best to help and serve this city. By doing these can we truly say that we too are heroes because we have contributed to the development of Marikina,” he said.
