MARIKINA INAUGURATES STREETLIGHTS, MULTI-PURPOSE HALL
MARIKINA CITY – Marikina City officials including Mayor Marcelino Teodoro has headlined the inauguration several infrastructures within the city.
Councilor Donn Carlo Favis led the opening of drainage system of Alfonso Ching Homeowners Association, as well as streetlights inside the Porsheville Subdivision in Barangay Marikina Heights over the weekend.
The newly built drainage system is one of the 49 sewerage facilities built within Marikina Heights, Parang and Nangka. The local government is currently repairing these facilities to ensure safety of Marikina City residents.
Teodoro also headlined the inauguration of the two-storey multi-purpose hall at the Ateneoville Subdivision which can be used for meetings of the residents and homeowners association of Ateneoville, special occasions and celebrations like birthdays, among others.
In a short speech, the city mayor told the residents about the ongoing cultural mapping in Marikina that aims to record the various cultural and historical sites in the city, as well as people, events, food, industry and practices that contributed to the growth of the Marikeños and the place they call home.
The cultural mapping will also strengthen the cultural identity of Marikina, he added.
Teodoro also sought the assistance of the police present in the event to maintain the peace and order in Ateneoville and neighboring areas.
“Dapat mahigpit ang seguridad dito at walang mangyaring nakawan at iba pang krimen. Dapat maintain ang police visibility at lagi silang (policemen) nakikita ng tao (We should heighten security in this area to avert any crime and maintain police visibility),” he added.
Meanwhile, Teodoro revealed the city council is building a new, modern headquarters in Barangay Fortune for the Marikina Philippine National Police. It will have a firing range, a lobby-like hotel, and a wellness spa.
