MARIKINA SCOUTS FOR NEXT BEAUTY QUEENS
MARIKINA CITY – Marikina City is searching for its next beauty queens who can represent the Shoe Capital of the Philippines and subsequently the country in international beauty pageants.
On Saturday, the new Miss Marikina 2018 will be chosen among the 26 candidates during the grand coronation night at the Plaza delos Alcaldes, located right across the Marikina City Hall.
One of the beauties vying for the title shall become the face of Marikina City in promoting the city as one of the best cities in the Philippines in terms of good governance, excellent public service and as an ideal place for tourists to visit and have fun.
Those who will named Miss Marikina, Miss Marikina Tourism, Miss Marikina Earth and the two runners-up are expected to showcase beauty, wit, talent and community involvement.
Bagging these titles will make them suitable for joining and winning national beauty pageants such as Binibining Pilipinas, Miss Earth Philippines, and Miss Tourism, among others.
The Miss Marikina title holder will win P100,000; Miss Marikina Tourism will receive P75,000; Miss Marikina Earth, P50,000; while the first and second runners-up will take home P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.
Ahead of the beauty competition, candidates participated in a string of pre-pageant activities including gala night and fashion show featuring Marikina-made shoes, a visit to the Luwalhati ng Maynila Home for the Aged, clean-up drive at the Marikina River Park, press launch and presentation of the candidates, tree planting, participating in the celebration of Marikina's Rehiyon-Rehiyon Festival, and television appearances.
They also showcased their prowess during their talent competition held recently at the Marikina City Hall Quadrangle.
The search for the Miss Marikina 2018 is organized by the local government and the Blue Company, in partnership with Philippine Footwear Federation, Inc. (PFFI), Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce – Marikina, JCI Marikina Sapatos, Soroptimist International Marikina Metro and the Sapatos Festival Committee.
