MARIKINA CITY – Marikina City is all set to host the National Capital Region (NCR) Palaro 2019, kicking it off with a parade of delegates of the annual sportsfest.
For the opening of the NCR Palaro 2019 on February 24, the parade will pass through Heritage Zone and cross over Poonton Bridge. It will then go straight to Zapatero St. and pass through J.P. Rizal St., V. Gomez St., Shoe Ave., City Hall Road at magtatapos sa Marikina Sports Center.
The local government said motorists should expect traffic congestion in these areas and find alternative routes. It will also put traffic guides to help motorists.
This is the second time Marikina City will host this year’s sportsfest under Mayor Marcelino Teodoro’s administration. The first one was in 2017.
For this year, student-athletes from 16 cities and one municipality in Metro Manila are expected to join NCR Palaro 2019 that will run from February 24 to March 2 at the Marikina Sports Center (MSC) along Sumulong Highway corner Shoe Avenue in Brgy. Sto Niño.
The annual regional games are being held in preparation for the National Games held in Davao province on April 27 to May 4 which will be attended by delegates from different regions of the Philippines.
It aims to promote physical education and sports for youth development, share the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline, and cooperation, among others.
