BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio Leonardia is mulling cyber crime charges against former Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella and Councilor Kalaw Puentevella over their alleged malicious posts on social media.

The social media posts being referred to by Leonardia is the “alleged” tampered video depicting President Rodrigo Duterte of dragging the mayor in the illegal drugs trade, which he labelled as “propaganda material”.

Two other posts believed to have been tampered are the 2016 election picture wherein Leonardia was being blamed for Duterte’s loss in Bacolod and the recent speech of President Rodrigo Duterte in Victorias City last Friday.

City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said they are presently assessing the evidences they gathered and printed out the said posts.

Bayatan said they believe there are many inputs that were altered for the purposes to make the data “un-authentic.”

“It is not for the purpose of honest reporting, but is actually to malign the reputation of the mayor,” Bayatan said.

He further said the actions committed by Puentevella are meant to send disinformation to the Office of the President.

Aside from Puentevella, they are also trying to trace the “true source” of the malicious posts and in due time they will file the necessary criminal complaints and submit a report to the Office of the President.
