CEBU CITY -- The coalition of national and local party candidates under Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) will be in Cebu on Thursday and Friday (March 21 and 22) to solicit votes for the May 13 elections.

Vice Mayor Edgar Labella on Tuesday said Mayor Sara is expected to grace four political rallies in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, and the town of Liloan.

Labella, the mayoralty bet of both HNP and the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Cebu City, said the HNP campaign caravan will start in Mandaue in the morning of the 21st and in this city in the afternoon of the same day.

The Cebu City sortie will be held at the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) Convention Center Cebu in Mabolo here, he said.

“The Cebuanos are very eager to meet in person and listen to the presidential daughter, Mayor Inday Duterte,” Labella told the Philippine News Agency.

The entire Barug PDP-Laban slate, headed by Labella and former vice mayor Michael Rama, as well as the party’s eight candidates for councilor in this city, are expected to be endorsed by the presidential daughter in the Cebu City campaign sortie.

Mayor Luigi Quisumbing will host the rally in the city of Mandaue.

In the morning of Friday (March 22), the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Liloan City to endorse gubernatorial candidate and incumbent 3rd district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia, and Liloan Mayor Duke Frasco.

The Davao City mayor is also expected to endorse her cousin, Red Duterte, a mayoral bet in her father’s hometown of Danao City.

The HNP-endorsed senatorial candidates are former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, former political adviser Francis Tolentino, reelectionists Sonny Angara, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito, former senators Pia Cayetano, Jinggoy Estrada, and Bong Revilla, Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, former journalist Jiggy Manicad, and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

Last February 24, President Duterte led the PDP-Laban senatorial slate in a campaign sortie at the Plaza Independencia here.

Before Duterte’s speech, Senator Manny Pacquiao, PDP-Laban campaign manager, introduced to the crowd the party’s senatorial slate. (PNA)
