MAYORALTY CANDIDATE ARRESTED AFTER 20-HOUR STANDOFF IN MARILAO
MARILAO, Bulacan – After a 20-hour standoff, former vice mayor Andre Santos was arrested by the police inside his house in Barangay Poblacion here Friday afternoon.
Santos, who is running in next year's elections, was being served a warrant of arrest for qualified theft when he locked himself inside his room.
Bulacan police director, Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna and his team entered his residences and threw tear gas inside Santos' room.
Governor Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado joined the police in negotiating for his surrender at around noontime.
At around 4 p.m., Santos was captured. Seized from the suspect was a .45 caliber revolver.
The warrant was issued by Judge Aida Estrella Macapagal Fojas of Paranaque Regional Trial Court Branch 195.
