MEDICAL MISSION BENEFITS CAVITE TOWN’S INDIGENTS

NOVELETA, Cavite — Thousands of poor patients and the elderly of this locality and neighboring Cavite City and Kawit town have benefitted from the three-day “mega medical mission” under the auspices of a United States-based medical corps.

At the culminating activity Thursday, Mayor Dino Reyes Chua, along with Vice Mayor Donnie Torres, Cavite City Vice Mayor Denver Chua, and local councilors, welcomed the kind-hearted Caviteños who are now based in California for not forgetting their roots.

Malaking tulong po ito para sa mga kababayan natin dito sa Noveleta at mga karatig na bayan, handog ng ating mga kababayang mgadoctors na naninirahan na sa Amerika (This is a big help to our constituents here in Noveleta and neighboring towns, offered by our compatriot doctors who are now based in America),” Chua told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in an interview.

Some 50 doctors and nurses from the Medical Association of Southern California provided free surgical removal of lumps and cysts during medical services held at the multi-purpose hall and evacuation center in Barangay San Jose 2 here from February 5 to 7.

The medical mission also extended free medicines to the patients.

Noveleta’s Rural Health Unit head, Dr. Hilda Bucu, and her team of health professionals also assisted the visiting medical team and provided some equipment needed for the free minor operation. (PNA)
